Yoga for Stress Relief?

Stress can be one of the biggest obstacles in the workplace, decreasing productivity and affecting home life. But did you know, Harvard Health Publishing states that research suggests yoga modulates the stress response!

Harvard Health Publishing states “by reducing perceived stress and anxiety, yoga appears to modulate stress response systems. This, in turn, decreases physiological arousal — for example, reducing the heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and easing respiration. There is also evidence that yoga practices help increase heart rate variability, an indicator of the body's ability to respond to stress more flexibly.”

Yoga is great as it is a low risk, high reward approach to stress, and is also great for managing symptoms of depression and anxiety.

According to the Harvard Health Publishing article, scientific studies of yoga show “that mental and physical health are not just closely allied, but are essentially equivalent”. You are not only feeding your mental health, but feeding your physical health at the same time, all the while increasing flexibility and strength.

Why not give it a go?
